I’m prepping for dinner, veggies and chicken breast in a cilantro, lime, garlic marinade for the BBQ. I’m going about my business when I hear a soft knock on the door. I wash my hands hurriedly, grab a kitchen towel and jog to the door. I open the door, look down and see a package I was expecting. I look up, see the UPS fella, who is already back in his truck. I nod. He returns the gesture with a quiet clench of his fist and gives one, ever so subtle pump. I close the door and pause with a smile on my face.
It doesn’t take much my friends to make a day worth having been lived. It was nothing, damn near insignificant, but it was, strangely enough, a connection with another human I have not felt in awhile.

To sum up this short story:

Me: Package received.
UPS Guy: Solid.

This is why I write.

This is why I hope.

This is why I dream for more beyond my waking hours.

What can I say?  It was a great weekend.  I got to play with the full band in addition to seeing a lot of familiar faces in addition to many new ones.

The convention scene never fails to surprise me with how far some people travel to get to these events where we live in a tiny bubble for a weekend.  I appreciate everyone who stopped by, smelled my soap, listened to our tunes and bought our stuff.  You folks keep me going.
